Why an innovative concept like IndiaKhelo was born:

                    Indians are considered as most ambitious people on the planet. Why was it that with India's 110 cr population (17% of world's population) we were only able to get only 3 of 1000 sports medals in last Olympic. Definitely Indian performance in last Olympics is a good start, but certainly nothing to feel content about.

                    IndiaKhelo team believes: it's not that there is a lack of talent in our country when it comes to sports, it's just that talented people are not getting the necessary recognition and motivation. A large number of talented youngsters are being overlooked because of the absence of a system to uncover talent. Even if a kid is good in a sport, he is not motivated by his parents to continue, as they are not aware of how talented their kids are apart from academics.

IndiaKhelo was started to provide solutions to all these problems.

What does IndiaKhelo do to help Indian Sports Structure:

                    IndiaKhelo Team collects the match-results of the local matches played at schools, colleges, & sports clubs all around India, analyze them and upload them on IndiaKhelo.com. Through this initiative each grass-root player gets a chance to play organized matches, based on his daily performance get national rankings, and showcase his sports talent to friends and family.

                     IndiaKhelo publicizes the feats of ordinary sports persons at local level, providing them much needed recognition and appreciation. IndiaKhelo gives ratings to each of these local players based on their performance, which all of India can see and follow. These ratings will serve as an absolute grading system which will show where each person stands in the larger picture.

                     IndiaKhelo will have a pyramidal structure with various levels where players can move to the next level if they shine in their level. This will make the transition of a grass-root player to a professional level very much possible with talent being the only criterion and also ensure that those at the top are the very best.

Who are behind IndiaKhelo concept:

    Incubation:
IndiaKhelo is a start-up by a group of IIT-Madras students. IndiaKhelo is being incubated in RTBI Cell at IIT-Madras.

    Professor Ashok Jhunjhunwala, Mentor;     Professor Jhunjhunwala is Professor of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, India. He has been named as one of "The 50 Most Powerful People in India by Business Week magazine". He has been awarded Padma Shri in the year 2002 by Government of India. He has the unique distinction among academics for combining innovations in technology and business incubation with the social goal of sustainable development in India.

    Dr. Badri Sheshadri, Mentor;     Dr. Badri earned his Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from IIT-Madras and doctorate from Cornell University. In '93 he co-founded Cricinfo.com the largest single-sport website on the internet and later in 2005 he moved out to become MD of New Horizon Media Private Limited, one of his own regional language-publishing venture. He is an entrepreneur by heart and enjoys the thrill of being one.

    Prashant Pitti, CEO and Co-Founder;     Prashant is alumnus of IIT Madras. He has worked in a number of banks in the US. He moved back to India to start IndiaKhelo.com, to improve the way sports is played in India. His professional profile is the key motivating factor for all the members in the team.

    Varun Gupta, Business Head and Co-Founder;     Varun is the current Sports Secretary of IIT-Madras and also a swimming champion at the national level. He hails from a family of sports-persons who have played at the national level. He works with a passion in his heart to see the take sports in our country to levels never achieved before.

    Vaibhav Tandon, Business Head and Co-Founder;     He is an alumnus of IIT Roorkee. He is an out and out sports enthusiast and it is an integral part of his life. To follow his passion he resigned from his job in Mumbai, as he believes sports can be a phenomenal tool for bringing a positive change in India.

    Aman Prakash, Business Head and Co-Founder ;     He is an IIT Roorkee alumunus and quit Unilever to follow his passion for sports. He believes that for India to outshine other countries in sports it is very important to inculcate the spirit of competition and generate a culture in sports amongst the youth.

    Akhil Ravi, Business Head and Co-Founder ;      He is an IIT Bombay alumunus who was earlier working with One of the major FMCG firm. He has been an avid swimmer and water polo player in his college days and his keen interest in sports has prompted him to work for its upliftment in India.

    Manish Kumar Singh, Business Head and Co-Founder ;     He is an IIT Roorkee alumnus and also the ex-Sports Secretary.He has been a state level Badminton and Tennis player, and participated in various sports competitions.
